- Miro: Powering the Future of Collaboration
The way teams collaborate is evolving faster than ever. Remote work, AI advancements, and the need for seamless communication are reshaping how businesses operate. In this edition of Industry Experts, we asked 13 SaaS leaders to share their thoughts on what’s next for team collaboration—and one tool kept coming up: Miro.
Collaboration thrives when teams work in sync, breaking down silos and ensuring that everyone is aligned. Daniel Deaconu highlights how Miro plays a crucial role in fostering a shared, real-time workspace that eliminates endless email chains and scattered communication:

Collaboration is at the core of everything I do with my team and clients. The future of work is collaborative. No more silos, no isolated teams, no more fragmented communication with your clients.
Miro is one of the tools I use to achieve this collaborative space. It makes it easy for everyone to see the big picture, share ideas, and work together in real-time. There are no endless email chains and no confusion, just one shared space where everyone stays on the same page.
Miro’s ability to eliminate silos and create a unified workspace is crucial for teams looking to stay productive and aligned.

Alignment: The Secret to High-Impact Collaboration
Collaboration isn’t just about working together—it’s about working towards the same goal. Alexandra Skagerholm, from Andsend, explains why alignment is the key to success

I believe that alignment is the foundation of strong team collaboration. I’ve worked in teams where alignment was missing; each department worked hard. Still, progress was slow because efforts weren’t aligned toward a shared outcome. Without it, teams work in silos making some progress but missing out on the compound effect that happens when everyone moves in the same direction.
Collaboration isn’t just about working together, it’s about working towards a shared goal that solves a real problem for users. At the same time, teams work faster when people can make their own decisions. That’s why clear focus and priorities matter. When the bigger picture is clear, collaboration across product, customer success, and growth happens more naturally.
At Andsend, we focus on our One Metric That Matters (OMTM), a single metric that is closely tied to both business success and user value. Before taking on a task, we ask ourselves, “Will this positively impact our OMTM?” to make sure we’re all working toward the same goal.
Beyond alignment, great collaboration happens when teams remove roadblocks together. We regularly identify the biggest bottlenecks holding back our OMTM brainstorming solutions. Often, challenges in one area, like customer success or growth, come from gaps elsewhere, such as missing usage data. In these cases, the development team might step in to remove the bottleneck, driving success for the whole business.
When teams work together around shared goals they can come up with great ideas that drive real value.
A tool like Miro helps teams achieve this alignment by providing a visual workspace where everyone can track progress, share updates, and remove bottlenecks together.
AI as a Collaboration Partner: The Next Big Shift
Collaboration is no longer just about human-to-human interaction. Romana Kuts, Founder of SaaStorm.io, sees a future where AI plays a central role in team collaboration:

Team collaboration is changing fast with AI. The way I see it, the future is all about humans focusing on strategy, creativity, and decision-making — while AI takes care of the repetitive stuff.
Now, teams can hop on calls, brainstorm, and map out ideas, then let AI handle execution at 5x the speed. It’s no longer just about people working together; it’s about humans and AI agents collaborating. In the future, a team might be 3 people… and 5 AI assistants making things happen behind the scenes.
I see this firsthand at my B2B SaaS marketing agency, where we combine human expertise with AI-powered workflows. We train AI agents based on our and our client’s knowledge, allowing us to scale content and SEO tasks efficiently.
With just 5 content marketers, we achieve what would’ve taken a team of 10 just 3 years ago.
With Miro’s AI-powered tools, teams can brainstorm, automate workflows, and execute projects faster, making collaboration more efficient than ever.
Transparency & Culture: The Foundations of Great Teamwork
For Ioana Manaila, from Swaarm, collaboration isn’t just about tools—it’s about transparency, communication, and an open culture:

At Swaarm, we believe that transparency is the foundation of effective collaboration—both internally and externally. Having clear communication within the team, outlining ideas, defining ETAs, and ensuring everyone understands priorities, blockers, and areas for improvement is crucial.
With a remote-first culture, keeping communication fluid is essential. That’s why we prioritize daily team check-ins, not just to align on tasks but to build strong relationships. Collaboration isn’t just about getting work done—it’s about creating an environment where ideas flow, and everyone feels heard.
What truly sets Swaarm apart is our healthy, open culture—one that fosters teamwork over competition. From day one, every team member is encouraged to ask questions, debate ideas, and challenge the status quo, ensuring that we grow together rather than compete against each other.
But collaboration & teamwork doesn’t stop within our internal teams. Swaarm was built from the ground up with direct input from our clients. We see them as partners, incorporating their feedback and feature requests into our development process to ensure we continuously evolve in the most impactful way.
The future of collaboration lies in openness, adaptability, and shared success—and we’re committed to making it happen.
By providing a transparent, open workspace, Miro helps teams build a culture where ideas flow and collaboration is frictionless.

The Future of Collaboration: Five Key Trends
According to Anand Nambiar, Head of Growth & Marketing at Oneflow, the future of collaboration is heading in five key directions:

Collaboration has shifted massively in the past year—and it’s only going to evolve further.
Having spent 12+ years in SaaS, I’ve seen this transformation first hand. The way teams work together has changed from endless meetings and scattered communication to a sharper focus on clarity, agility, and alignment. The future? Less noise. More meaningful work.
Here’s where I see collaboration heading:
- From Sync to Async-First – Fewer unnecessary meetings, more structured updates. Teams will prioritize deep work and documentation over constant pings.
- AI as a Collaboration Partner – AI won’t replace teams, but it’ll handle the busy work—automating tasks, summarizing discussions, and surfacing insights so teams can focus on what matters.
- Breaking Silos with Cross-Functional Teams – The best teams won’t be confined to departments. The future belongs to small, agile pods that own projects end-to-end.
- Real-Time + Remote – The Best of Both Worlds – Whether in-office or remote, the key is seamless digital collaboration. The best teams will balance real-time brainstorming with async execution.
- More Experimentation, Fewer Opinions – The best decisions won’t come from long debates but from quick, data-driven experiments that validate ideas before scaling.
Building great ideas isn’t about one genius moment—it’s about creating a culture where ideas can grow, evolve, and scale.
The Importance of Shared Goals in Collaboration
When teams rally around a common purpose, they work more efficiently and make a greater impact.
I believe that for teams to to collaborate effectively, the most important step is to establish a shared goal that every member or department works towards. Once that’s in place, you need to define clear responsibilities and metrics tied to that goal. This helps teams prioritize their efforts and cut out activities that don’t add value to the goal.
In our case, we use NetHunt CRM to ensure everyone is aligned by accessing the same data, particularly around leads or deals. We look at the number of incoming leads, sales-accepted leads, and their progress toward closure. This way, there’s no room for different teams to interpret the data differently. Everything is clear, consistent, and transparent. We also have regular check-ins to stay on track.
These aren’t just for updates — they help us spot potential issues early, foster accountability, and keep everyone moving in the same direction. Plus, they’re a great chance to brainstorm and refine strategies together. In the end, that’s what drives better results.
By defining clear objectives and roles, organizations can minimize wasted effort and foster high-impact teamwork.

AI-Driven Decision Making: Faster, Smarter Collaboration
AI is making team collaboration more data-driven, reducing reliance on gut feeling.
Decision-making in teams has always been a challenge—too slow, too fragmented, and too reliant on gut feeling. But with AI-powered analytics, that’s changing fast.
Having built AI solutions for SaaS, I’ve seen firsthand how real-time insights can transform collaboration. The future? Less waiting. More action.
Here’s where I see team collaboration evolving:
- From Gut Feel to Data-Backed Decisions – No more debates based on assumptions. Teams will use AI-driven insights to validate ideas instantly.
- AI as the Ultimate Team Assistant – AI won’t replace collaboration, but it will streamline it—automating reporting, surfacing trends, and answering questions in real time.
- From Static Dashboards to On-Demand Insights – Instead of digging through dashboards, teams will simply ask, “What’s driving our churn?” and get instant, context-rich answers.
- Real-Time + Asynchronous Workflows – The best teams will balance live discussions with AI-powered insights that allow them to move fast, even when working remotely.
- Less Talk, More Experimentation – AI will make it easier to test and iterate, shifting teams away from long discussions toward rapid, data-driven execution.
The best decisions don’t come from endless meetings—they come from teams equipped with the right insights at the right time. AI-powered analytics will make that the new norm.
By leveraging AI-powered analytics, teams can make smarter, faster decisions that drive business growth.
Power vs. Force: The New Approach to Team Leadership
The workplace is evolving from rigid structures to more flexible, people-first approaches.
Effective team management in 2025?
Well, it can be simply summarized by understanding the difference between power and force. From 2000-2024, force worked:
- People must come to the office
- People must be micromanaged to ensure productivity
- Pre-Glassdoor, employee experience was opaque
As we move into 2025, force will stop working, and power will emerge:
- The best people want to work where they want
- The best people need freedom to flourish
- The best people research before applying
No longer can we hide behind corporate firewalls in bland offices. Effective team management in 2025 required trust, flexibility and empathy.
This shift emphasizes leadership built on influence and trust rather than control.
Customer-Centric Collaboration: A Competitive Advantage
Organizations that align their teams around customer needs gain a significant edge.
Collaboration is the key to winning more deals and building a truly customer-centric organization. To succeed, everyone in the organization must be aligned—especially when it comes to customer interactions.
Every department needs a clear understanding of what matters most to the customer:
- Product teams must know which features drive sales.
- Marketing teams need insights into customer pain points to craft compelling messaging.
- Sales teams require the right pitch to convert prospects into customers.
- Leadership teams must focus on strategic priorities that drive growth.
Kickscale, an AI-powered SaaS platform, transforms customer conversations into valuable insights. It empowers sales representatives to optimize their interactions, enhances efficiency through intelligent automation, and provides actionable data across departments.
From sales leaders refining winning strategies to product teams tracking feature requests, marketing capturing testimonials, and executives gaining market intelligence—Kickscale ensures every team has the insights they need to succeed.
By ensuring cross-functional collaboration, businesses can better serve their customers and drive long-term success.

Human Skills in an AI-Driven Workplace
As AI automates more tasks, human skills like communication and creativity become more crucial.

In the past years, I’ve seen how technology is transforming teamwork. Two trends stand out: the growing need for soft skills in an AI-driven world and the challenge of fostering creativity in remote and hybrid work environments.
With AI automating more tasks, human skills like stakeholder management, project management, and communication are becoming even more critical. AI can analyze data and suggest solutions, but it can’t build relationships or align teams. The companies that invest in these soft skills will be the ones that thrive.
At the same time, hybrid work is here to stay, but it makes collaboration and creativity harder. In-person, ideas flow naturally—something that’s difficult to replicate remotely. The right digital tools, like Miro, can help bridge this gap, but leaders must also be intentional about creating virtual spaces for idea-sharing.
The future of collaboration will depend on how well we balance technology and human connection. AI will enhance teamwork, but people remain at the heart of it. By focusing on soft skills and using the right tools, teams can stay innovative, engaged, and effective—no matter where they work.
By balancing technology with human-centric skills, companies can create innovative, high-performing teams.
Visual Collaboration: Turning Ideas into Tangible Outcomes
The right tools can make complex strategies easy to execute across teams.

At purple path, we turning ideas into tangible outcomes, and it’s often done with visual collaboration.
When building GTM strategies for B2B companies, alignment is everything. We do that by mapping the strategy out in a deck or creating visual campaigns in Figma or Canva, using project management platforms like Jira, or throwing ideas onto a digital whiteboard.
I see firsthand, every day, how the right tools keep our customers, partners, and team on the same page. Tools help make complex plans into easier to digest, and ready to execute across stakeholders. It’s ultimately about unlocking creativity, getting buy in, moving fast, and delivering real results, no matter where we are in the world.
By leveraging digital whiteboards, project management platforms, and design tools, companies can streamline collaboration and enhance productivity.
Fostering Open Communication: Empowering Teams to Innovate
Leaders who encourage open communication empower teams to share ideas, experiment, and solve problems creatively, while promoting respect and clear expectations.
Leaders who foster a culture of open and cohesive communication empower their employees to share their skills and expertise and experiment with new approaches to existing and anticipated issues.
A fear of criticism or embarrassment, or a lack of understanding can block our creativity and curiosity. This makes it very important to set clear expectations, goals, and timelines. Similarly, promoting respectful dialogue and healthy debate encourages team members to share their diverse perspectives, develop successful solutions or strategies, and measure and optimize their combined success.
Remote and hybrid work models make tech essential for modern teams. Tools such as Slack, email, video-conferencing, and shared cloud-based document storage enable seamless asynchronous and real-time collaboration, and strengthen team relationships.
In remote and hybrid teams, tools like Slack and video-conferencing ensure seamless collaboration, helping teams stay connected and productive.
The Hybrid Work Model and AI-Driven Collaboration
Sam shares his perspective on how AI is reshaping team collaboration.
Team collaboration has always been a hot topic, even before the rise of remote work. Companies have long sought ways to replicate the benefits of in-person interactions. My time with RingCentral taught me that to truly master collaboration, businesses need to balance both asynchronous and synchronous communication effectively.
Twenty years ago, I worked remotely and had to upload my work every night via FTP. The introduction of the cloud revolutionised collaboration, making it easier to share files and work together in real time. Just as the cloud changed the way we collaborate, COVID-19 accelerated the shift to remote work, and now AI is reshaping how teams interact and operate.
Now, with AI advancements, the time required for collaboration is shrinking. AI-generated transcripts, automatic action capture, and smart responses are revolutionising workflows. The entire dynamic of team interactions has shifted, making processes more efficient while reducing manual effort.
However, my perspective is that the more we lean into AI-driven collaboration, the more we will crave face-to-face interactions. While AI enhances efficiency, it cannot replace the organic connections formed during in-person meetings. I anticipate an increase in company retreats and team offsites as organisations recognise the value of strengthening relationships beyond digital spaces.
The hybrid work model is here to stay, and companies must continue investing in tools that bridge the gap between remote and in-office teams. Virtual collaboration spaces, asynchronous communication platforms, and immersive digital environments will remain crucial in maintaining engagement and equity among team members.
As businesses adapt to these changes, the key to effective collaboration will lie in leveraging AI-driven innovations while fostering meaningful human connections. Striking the right balance between technology and personal interactions will be essential in creating a cohesive and productive workforce.
Collaboration in the workplace is rapidly evolving, shaped by AI, transparency, and alignment. Companies that embrace these changes will foster more productive, engaged, and innovative teams. By leveraging the right tools and creating a strong culture of collaboration, businesses can stay ahead of the curve in this new era of work.
Fostering Natural Collaboration and Celebrating Wins
Kay-leigh Johnston emphasizes the importance of staying connected and open to learning from one another, regardless of geographical location. At Playroll, their team is spread across multiple countries, making effective collaboration a crucial part of their daily operations.

In my experience, modern teams build great ideas together by staying connected and open to learning from one another — regardless of where they are. At Playroll, we’ve got people spread across the UK, Israel, Zambia, and and South Africa both Johannesburg and Cape Town, so finding ways to collaborate effectively is part of our everyday rhythm.
For me, it starts with having intentional spaces to share and explore ideas. Mondays are all about goal-setting to get aligned, and from there, it’s about touchpoints throughout the week that keep ideas flowing — whether that’s reviewing sales calls to learning from each other’s approaches, sharing insights across departments, or running L&D sessions that spark discussions and creative thinking.
I’ve also realized that the best ideas don’t always come from structured sessions, though. They happen in those random “What if we tried this?” moments when people feel comfortable speaking up. Modern teams thrive when collaboration feels natural and not forced and that comes with good management too!
Another key thing is making sure different perspectives are heard without judgment. Lastly it’s also about celebrating the little wins and creating an environment where people feel valued. When that happens, creativity flows naturally!
Kay highlights that fostering a comfortable and inclusive environment where everyone feels valued is key to unlocking creativity and driving innovation.
Breaking Routine to Spark Creativity and Enhance Collaboration
Sara Archer discusses the importance of breaking up monotonous business routines to foster creativity and collaboration. At ChartMogul, they have implemented various communication techniques to keep team interactions fresh and productive.

Breaking up monotonous business rhythms can be a great way to foster team collaboration and to generate new ideas. You know how a brilliant idea occurs while you’re in the shower or on a walk? The same can be true of business.
At ChartMogul, we’ve adopted a few communication techniques that work for our teammates but also help the business. Here are a few examples:
- Change up your regular 1-1 call for a walk in the park
- Taking your kids to school? Do a WhatsApp call or voice notes while en route
- Try schedule calls or collaboration at optimal times for the kind of thinking the job requires. If the project leader is more creative late at night, try working together then
- Brainstorm spontaneously. Ask your team things like ‘what would make your job easier this quarter’ or ‘what kinds of things should we work on next quarter as a team’
- Try a co-working day in a new environment
- I also recommend talking together about how you talk. Ask your team things like:
- How do you learn best? Do you find that you’re a very visual person or maybe you need to do something to understand it?
- Do you prefer to work on this together or asynchronously?
- Is there a time of day that’s best to talk about this kind of stuff?
- Or simply: what’s the best way for us to communicate?
Sara emphasizes the importance of understanding individual preferences and adapting communication styles to enhance team collaboration and productivity.
