Editorial Review: Grammarly Alternatives Deep Dive

Writing in English as a non-native speaker is not always that easy. It is impossible not to make a mistake. That’s why I recommend everyone to use Grammarly. Indeed, this simple software changed the way I write in English. And tore down the wall between native speakers and me. That’s why I came up with reviewing Grammarly so that other people can enjoy their own fresh, clean and right English. Now, this tool may not work for everyone. Not a problem; I made a list of its best alternative, free and premium, to have some variety.

Yet, I can tell that the best substitute for Grammarly would have been myself paying more attention during my English classes.

Free alternative to Grammarly

Maybe you don’t want to pay money for an English assistant, that’s why here is a list of its free alternatives:

  • ProWritingAid
  • WhiteSmoke
  • Ginger
  • JetPack
  • LanguageTool

  • Hemingway App
  • SlickWrite
  • Readable
  • Paper Rater
  • 1Checker

Premium alternatives to Grammarly

Some of its free alternatives offer to its users and premium plans. Although Grammarly is more expensive than other competitors, I think it is worth the money. Yet, here is a list of its premium alternatives that are cheaper than Grammarly.

  • ProWritingAid – Annually (starting at $5)
  • WhiteSmoke – Monthly, annually (starting at $4.16)
  • Sapling – Monthly (starting at $25)
  • Ginger – Monthly & annually (starting at $20.97)

Which is better, Grammarly or ProWritingAid?

Both of these tools are great assistants for your English grammar. Yet, ProWritingAid offers more in-depth reports regarding your mistakes and evaluates you so that you can know what to improve. Grammarly offers mobile apps for Android and iOS so that you can always write the best English. Moreover, Grammarly will offer suggestions and help you find all text errors.

Regarding the free version, Grammarly offers more advanced features than ProWritingAid. But, the premium plan of Grammarly is more expensive.

To sum up, Grammarly is the best proofreading tool on the market. It offered suggestions for all types of errors but, in time, offered me confidence. Now is showing me fewer and fewer errors and helps me build a readable text for everyone, yet metaphorical. And not to mention that it has a modern and friendly interface.

So, from my point of view, Grammarly is my winner. However, I’ve been using the premium version for more than a year, and I can see some improvements in my English.
